ⵣ About Glamazigh
Glamazigh is an Amazigh jewellery brand founded by Myriam, an Amazigh woman and entrepreneur passionate about celebrating and sharing her cultural heritage with the world. The name combines "Glam" and "Amazigh" — symbolising both beauty and cultural identity.
We offer two collections: the Prestige Collection of handcrafted Moroccan silver pieces made by artisans in Morocco, and the Modern Collection of contemporary Amazigh-inspired designs in stainless steel, copper and gold-plated finishes. Every piece is built around four sacred symbols: the Yaz ⵣ, the Fibula ⊕, the Diamond ◇ and the Fatma Hand 🤚. Bold by Nature.
Glamazigh was founded by Myriam, an Amazigh woman who grew up surrounded by the intricate symbols and bold designs of Amazigh jewellery. For years, she dreamed of creating a brand that didn't just showcase the beauty of Amazigh craftsmanship — but honoured the stories and heritage behind every piece. Glamazigh is that brand.
The brand is owned by The Aswak Limited (UK) and distributed in the EU by Inouran. Our silver pieces are handcrafted by master artisans in Morocco.
Bold by Nature is the Glamazigh brand slogan — and it is always kept in English, in every language, because it is a declaration rather than a description.
"Bold" reflects the strength and confidence of Amazigh women who have worn their identity on their bodies for thousands of years — unapologetically, visibly, and with pride. "By Nature" speaks to the authenticity of handmade jewellery, the natural materials it is crafted from, and the organic, deep-rooted connection between Amazigh culture and the North African landscape.
The Prestige Collection features pieces handcrafted from Moroccan silver by Amazigh artisans in Morocco. These are the most traditional, culturally rooted pieces in the Glamazigh range — each one unique, engraved and shaped by hand using techniques passed down through generations. Silver is the historic metal of Amazigh jewellery, chosen for its purity, its spiritual significance, and its deep cultural roots.
The Modern Collection features Amazigh-inspired designs in stainless steel, copper and gold-plated finishes. These pieces are designed for everyday wear, are more accessible in price, and bring Amazigh symbolism to a contemporary wardrobe without compromise. Both collections carry the same four symbols and the same cultural commitment.

⊕ Amazigh Culture & Symbols
Amazigh (plural: Imazighen) is the name the so-called "Berber" people of North Africa use to refer to themselves. It means "free people" or "noble ones" in the Tamazight language — one of the world's oldest living languages, with roots going back over 9,000 years.
The Amazigh are the indigenous inhabitants of North Africa, present across Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Mali, Niger and Mauritania. At Glamazigh, we always use the term "Amazigh" — never "Berber", which is an external name historically imposed by others and carries colonial undertones the Amazigh people themselves reject.
Every Glamazigh piece is built around one of four sacred Amazigh symbols, each with a precise and ancient meaning:
ⵣ The Yaz — A character from the ancient Tifinagh script and the central emblem of Amazigh identity. It represents the free man: proud, upright and rooted in the earth. Wearing the Yaz is a quiet declaration of who you are.
⊕ The Fibula (Tazerzit) — The ancient triangular brooch worn by Amazigh women for thousands of years. A symbol of beauty, feminine strength and identity. Worn on the right, it signals an unmarried woman; on the left, a married one.
◇ The Diamond (Agemgum) — The most recurring symbol in Amazigh art, found in carpets, pottery, jewellery and tattoos for millennia. It represents the woman, femininity, fertility and the continuity of life.
🤚🏻 The Fatma Hand (Khmissa) — A protective talisman believed to ward off the evil eye and invite good fortune. Worn close to the heart as a daily blessing.
Silver has been the preferred metal of Amazigh jewellery for centuries, for both cultural and historical reasons. Culturally, silver was associated with purity, spirituality and protection — its white colour linked to light and the divine. Historically, silver was the primary currency of North African trade routes, and Amazigh women literally wore their wealth: silver jewellery represented financial independence and security in times of need.
Morocco is among the top 20 global silver producers, making the material naturally abundant in the region. Gold, by contrast, was associated with Arab urban culture and became more common in Amazigh cities only much later. Traditional Amazigh jewellery — the kind that has been passed down from mother to daughter for generations — remains silver at its heart.
The Fibula — known in Tamazight as the Tazerzit — is one of the oldest and most iconic pieces in Amazigh jewellery. It is a triangular brooch historically worn to fasten garments, used by Amazigh women across North Africa for thousands of years.
Beyond its practical function, the Fibula was a sophisticated form of social communication. Worn on the right side of the chest, it signalled that the wearer was unmarried. On the left, it announced that her heart was taken. The size of the Fibula indicated social status — larger meant greater wealth and standing. Today, the Fibula is reinterpreted as a necklace pendant: a symbol of feminine pride, cultural identity, and living Amazigh heritage.
Absolutely — and wholeheartedly. Glamazigh is designed with Amazigh people at its heart, and open to everyone who is drawn to the beauty and depth of Amazigh culture. Jewellery has always been one of the most universal human languages, and Amazigh symbols have crossed cultures and borders for millennia.
We simply ask that you wear it with knowledge and respect — which is exactly why we write and share so extensively about the meaning behind every symbol. The more people understand what Amazigh culture carries, the more it is honoured, not diluted.
◇Jewellery &Care
925 silver— also called sterling silver — means the metal is 92.5% pure silver, alloyed with 7.5% of another metal (typically copper) to add strength and durability. Pure silver (99.9%) is too soft for jewellery. The "925" stamp is an internationally recognised hallmark of quality and authenticity.
925 silver naturally tarnishes over time when exposed to air, moisture and chemicals — this is completely normal and easy to manage. To keep your Glamazigh silver pieces looking their best:
Store them in the provided Glamazigh pouch when not wearing, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Remove your silver before showering, swimming, exercising, or applying perfume, cream or hairspray. Clean gently with a soft silver polishing cloth — never use abrasive materials or harsh chemical cleaners. With proper care, an Amazigh silver piece can last a lifetime — and can be passed down as a family heirloom, just as Amazigh women have done for centuries.
Stainless steel is highly durable and resistant to tarnishing, making it excellent for everyday wear. Simply wipe with a soft, damp cloth to clean. Avoid prolonged exposure to harsh chemicals or saltwater.
Gold-plated pieces require a little more care — avoid contact with perfume, sweat, chlorine and harsh cleaning products, as these can wear the plating over time. Store flat or in the provided pouch to prevent scratching. Handle with care and your gold-plated piece will keep its warmth and shine for a long time.
Oursilver piecesare free from harmful metals and generally well-tolerated by sensitive skin. Ourstainless steel piecesare surgical-grade stainless steel, which is nickel-free and hypoallergenic — making them an excellent choice for those with metal sensitivities. If you have specific concerns about allergies, pleasecontact usbefore ordering and we will be happy to advise.
The easiest method is to measure an existing ring that fits well. Place it on a ruler and measure the internal diameter in millimetres — this gives you your size. Alternatively, wrap a thin strip of paper around your finger where you would wear the ring, mark where it meets, and measure the length — this gives you your circumference, which you can convert using a standard ring size chart. If you are between sizes, we recommend sizing up. You can also contact us and we will help you find your perfect fit.
